Eicon Networks Launches Diva Server SoftIP v1.0

Eicon Networks Launches Diva Server SoftIP v1.0
New Software Product Augments Diva Server Family of Telephony Adapters to Enable IP-Based Telephony and Unified Messaging Applications
BOSTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 10/19/2004 -- VON -- Eicon Networks Corporation ("Eicon"), a global leader in providing reliable communication products for networked business applications, today announced the launch of Diva Server SoftIP version 1.0, a new software product that extends Diva Server call control and media streaming capabilities towards IP Telephony, using industry standard Voice over IP (VoIP)and Fax over IP (FoIP) signaling protocols.

Software applications -- based either on standard CAPI or Diva Server API (SDK) programming interface -- will be empowered to work with IP Phones and Soft-Phones in an IP Telephony environment. Developers can focus entirely on enhancing their application and will not have to make H.323 or SIP type protocol implementations of their own, resulting in decreased development efforts and time-to-market.. In addition, Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 supports key supplementary telephony services such as call hold, call transfer and multi-party conference as well as an upgrade for real-time Fax over IP (according to the T.38 standard) enabling the most sophisticated unified messaging and call center applications to work transparently with existing telephony as well as with IP.

Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 allows for a variety of configuration scenarios. As a stand-alone installation, Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 provides connectivity into the IP network via any standard Ethernet adapter and allows for host-based media processing (HMP). This configuration allows current voice and unified messaging applications to function natively in an IP-based communications environment and it spurs the development of new IP Media Server applications. As in most cases, the introduction of IP-Telephony will happen in a phased approach, Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 can be installed in combination with any other type of Diva Server telephony adapters, be it Analog, ISDN BRI and PRI or E1/T1 interfaces. Such hybrid configurations facilitate IP migration as application platforms can concurrently be connected to the legacy world via PBX as well as to the IP world via IP PBX or Call Manager systems. As a result, this creates a way for a single application to send and receive calls from standard phones as well as from IP Phones -- all through a common and consistent programming interface. Finally the combination of Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 and Diva Server telephony adapters also provides the foundation for PSTN/IP gateway applications.

Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 supports the most recent Microsoft Windows based operating systems, including Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server. Using any current PC-Server platform with state-of-the-art Intel or AMD type processors Diva Server SoftIP v1.0 can support up to 240 concurrent VoIP or FoIP connections in a pure host-based media processing configuration.

The following product options are available with Diva Server SoftIP v1.0:

316-028 Diva Server SoftIP - Base installation kit
M01-028 Diva Server SoftIP - SW-License Telephony (H.323) per channel

ACOM and FaxStar Sign Partnership Agreement; Engage in Co-Marketing, Starting with Joint Exhibit at Fall Common

LONG BEACH, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- Oct. 18, 2004 -- ACOM Solutions Inc. and the FaxStar(R) Division of SEPE, Inc. have entered into a partnership agreement under which the two companies will cross-refer each other to customers within their respective customer bases as well as conduct joint marketing activities in sales situations where one or the other detects a logical fit for the partner's system, it was announced today by Gregory T. Church, vice president of marketing and communications at ACOM and Jared Johnson, director of marketing at FaxStar.

The companies made the joint announcement in conjunction with the opening of Fall COMMON, 2004 in Toronto, where they are sharing an exhibit space (Booth # 611). FaxStar's parent company, SEPE, Inc., was the developer of the first fax server in 1984 and continues to hold a leadership position in the worldwide electronic document delivery field. ACOM is an international leader in the development and marketing of solutions for the optimization of back office processes with electronic document output management (EZeDocs/400) and e-payment output management and delivery (EZPayManager/400). The solutions replace preprinted form processes with electronic form templates and feature both paper-based output and electronic delivery capabilities.

FaxStar's fully integrated hardware and software solutions are compatible with a wide range of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and run under all commonly used operating systems, as do the ACOM software systems.

"Companies of all sizes increasingly recognize the efficiency, cost-effectiveness and security advantages that can be gained by replacing preprinted forms with electronic form and check templates," Church said. "But the other half is delivery. Direct deposit of funds and electronic delivery of back office documents -- remittance advice notices, purchase orders, invoices and more -- introduce a whole new dimension of efficiency, security and affordability by eliminating the hard copy phase altogether."

FaxStar offers leading edge solutions for electronic delivery functions and because these solutions integrate seamlessly with ACOM software, customers with applications requiring especially advanced capabilities can implement them quickly and inexpensively, Church said.

"Importantly, unlike those of its major competitor in the market, FaxStar's solutions are backward-compatible with virtually all fax and email systems, including those of companies that may have since ceased operations," he said. "This capability provides distinct advantages to many firms that may have existing investments in solutions but that may wish to upgrade or replace them without changing out the associated resources."

Noted FaxStar Director of Marketing Jared Johnson: "ACOM has established itself as one of the premier providers of solutions that extend the power and versatility of back office management software systems. This collaboration will further empower our mutual customers as well as open the door to significant opportunities for both our companies."

According to Church, the combined exhibition at Fall Common is the initial joint marketing effort and other similar elements, including a bidirectional lead referral program, will be implemented in the near future.
