Xerox launches new MFP products and new smart scanning software
by Chris Talbot
Xerox recently released several new office and multi-function printers, as well as new smart scanning software.
Included in the eight new products are two high-speed multi-function products and digital copiers that are targeted at customers that need printing speeds in the 41 to 90 pages-per-minute (ppm) range. The WorkCentre Pro 165 and WorkCentre Pro 175 are capable of 65 and 75 ppm speeds, respectively, and they're also the first two products to support Xerox's new FreeFlow SMARTsend software. The two WorkCentre Pro products also have a small footprint, so according to Xerox, they're ideal for customers that have locations where space is limited, like schools and hospitals.
"The key selling features for these powerful MFP and copiers starts with the smallest footprint in its class, fast scan speed of 75ppm, walkup fax which is new in its class, 1200 x1200 PS printing, and multiple finishing options (including hole punch)," said Kathleen Salimbene, product marketing manager for monochrome MFP marketing at Xerox. "Most important is that in the real world busy office environment they are the most productive MFP in its class and are ready when you are with its fast warm-up of less than 72 seconds and fast first copy out time of 2.9 seconds."
The FreeFlow SMARTsend software converts, distributes and routes scanned documents in any format to e-mail, the desktop, a network file server, a document management system or a fax machine.
Xerox also announced a new Fiery colour server from EFI for the Phaser 7750 colour laser printer, as well as a small workgroup fax machine. The company has also released a new Phaser printer product. The Phaser EX7750 is a colour printer that combines the EFI Fiery colour server with the Phaser 7750.
"Target customers are graphic artists, advertising agencies, central reprographic departments, and offices with light production needs who have already implemented EFI workflows and are looking for a cost effective entry level printer to fit into their EFI environment. Primary applications are the printing of concept proofs and short-run printing," said Ken Knepper, product marketing manager of printer marketing at Xerox.
The new Xerox FaxCentre F110 is an entry-level business fax device that was designed to be a simple, compact product for customers that rely on fax capabilities every day. The unit combines copying, printing and scanning capabilities, and it comes equipped with a 33.6 Kbps modem and compression technology. With the compression technology, the FaxCentre F110 is capable of faxing a document in as little as three seconds.
"While the fax market is in decline, there is still a need for it among our customers and Xerox continues to deliver fax-centric solutions with the latest features and functionality," said Todd Smith, product marketing manager for monochrome MFP marketing at Xerox. "The target market for this product is professionals and small workgroups that continue to rely on fax capabilities."
According to Smith, the product is fast enough to keep pace with busy workgroups, but it's also easy to use and has a small enough footprint to be ideal for space-constrained offices.
