Castelle Network Fax Servers Integrate with eCopy ShareScan OP

Castelle(R) (Nasdaq:CSTL), a market leader in fax solutions for small to medium-sized workgroups and enterprise applications, today announced that its family of network fax servers seamlessly integrate with eCopy ShareScan OP v3.0.

"The FaxPress(TM) Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP offers the rich desktop faxing capabilities of FaxPress and FaxPress Premier(TM) from a centralized network copier," said Scott McDonald, president and CEO of Castelle. "The integration of FaxPress with ShareScan OP provides an efficient way to send and manage documents." Castelle will be demonstrating the FaxPress and ShareScan OP solution at the eCopy Paper Connection Forum in Miami, FL, April 5-8, 2005.

Castelle's FaxPress and FaxPress Premier tightly integrate with eCopy ShareScan OP to offer users convenient access to network capabilities directly from a range of digital copiers, including Canon, HP, Oce, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba products. Users can scan and fax documents directly from the copier. An easy to use touch screen allows users to select recipients from a FaxPress or ODBC phonebook, include a cover page, and send a fax with the touch of a button.

"Castelle is one of the first independent software vendors to take full advantage of the eCopy ShareScan OP v3.0 software developer kit," said Noel O'Dwyer, director of strategic alliances at eCopy. "The eCopy SDK helped make integration with ShareScan OP fast and efficient by dramatically reducing the amount of programming resources Castelle needed through advanced software productivity tools such as a GUI generator, digital copier and PC client templates, and .NET wizards."

eCopy ShareScan OP and ScanStation OP

Today, eCopy introduced ShareScan OP v3.0 and ScanStation OP v3.0 at the eCopy Paper Connection Forum (see http://www.ecopy.com/news/040505_ssopv3.htm for the announcement). eCopy ShareScan OP is document imaging and distribution software that transforms digital copiers and scanners into information hubs by integrating hardcopy documents directly into the workflow of critical business processes, such as reporting, administration, document management, financials, human resources, and customer management.

eCopy ScanStation OP is an ergonomic, integrated system that consists of a touch screen, keyboard, and PC, which is optimized to operate ShareScan OP software on non-embedded architecture digital copiers and scanners.

Biscom Integrates Its FAXCOM Server With the eCopy Open Platform Architecture

Enables Document Delivery From a Range of Digital Copier and Scanner Brands, Including Canon, Fujitsu, HP, Océ, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba

MIAMI, FL -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 04/05/2005 -- eCopy PAPER CONNECTION FORUM -- Biscom, a leading provider of enterprise document delivery solutions, today announced it has integrated its FAXCOM Server software with eCopy ShareScan OP v3.0. The Biscom Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP enables FAXCOM users to scan and fax paper documents using a range of digital copiers and scanners, including Canon, Fujitsu, HP, Océ, Ricoh, Sharp, and Toshiba products.

"FAXCOM is one of the first business applications to leverage eCopy's recently announced Open Platform Architecture," said Brian Kilduff, director of sales and marketing at Biscom." As a result, it is even easier and more convenient to use FAXCOM to provide document delivery for both electronic and paper-based information, thereby strengthening our position as an essential enterprise-wide solution that is reliable, scalable, flexible, and auditable."

The new software provides users with walk-up access to enterprise fax capabilities from a range of digital copiers or scanners. A user can insert a paper document into the scanning tray, use the display panel to call up the FAXCOM Connector for eCopy ShareScan OP, enter one or more fax numbers or selected entries from the company fax phone book, and send the fax. Because the Connector provides native integration between Biscom and eCopy software, the user sees the FAXCOM user interface running on the digital copier or scanner touch screen, making it easy and intuitive to send a fax.

Regulatory requirements such as The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act require that organizations implement policies to ensure tighter control of information. Faxes that are sent through fax machines are difficult to track and often are publicly visible. However, by routing faxes through a FAXCOM Server, organizations can improve confidentiality and maintain a complete audit trail of fax usage by user or department.

According to Noel O'Dwyer, director of strategic alliances at eCopy, "This new Connector leverages a customer's existing FAXCOM solution, digital copier or scanner, and our Open Platform Architecture. By developing a single software Connector, Biscom has provided users with access to FAXCOM on a range of popular digital copiers from a number of different vendors."

The eCopy ShareScan OP v3.0 software developer kit (SDK) makes Connector development fast and efficient by dramatically reducing the amount of programming resources needed through advanced software productivity tools such as a GUI generator, digital copier and PC client templates, and .NET wizards.

eCopy's Open Platform Architecture provides a fundamental change in how document scanning capabilities are delivered to ISV's business applications. It enables eCopy ShareScan OP v3.0 to provide a corporate standard for document scanning across heterogeneous digital copier and scanner platforms and diverse software applications to maximize enterprise investments.
